SAN DIEGO– 3 Squares is creating a TIM3 MACHIN3™. It can’t help you travel through time, but it can save you a lot of it in the kitchen.
The company was focused on developing a product that would help make it easier for busy families to make healthy homemade meals each day. The automation provided by rice cookers seemed like the perfect solution to them. It handles the cooking, so there’s less time spent preparing and more time spent sharing.
The TIM3 MACHIN3™ is a rice cooker. And a slow cooker. And a food steamer. That also makes quinoa, yogurt and oatmeal.
“Having developed rice cookers for almost every major US retailer, I knew rice cookers could be tweaked to serve a much broader audience than just the avid rice eater,” said Thomas Rogers, President at 3 Squares. “So we looked at functionality that we knew our families would want—oatmeal, yogurt and quinoa—all food items that we love but don’t have very often because they take so much time to make.”
The company is hoping the Kickstarter community will help them bring the product to market.
According to 3 Squares, the TIM3 MACHIN3™ can cook white rice up to 30% faster and brown rice up to 45% faster than competing rice cookers.
It also boasts a new quinoa function that “toasts” the quinoa prior to cooking for better tasting results.
Before the TIM3 MACHIN3™, making yogurt involved heating milk in a double-boiler on the stove, monitoring its temperature, allowing it to cool (and monitoring its temperature as it does), adding your starter yogurt then finally putting it all in the yogurt maker. The TIM3 MACHIN3™ streamlines the process by doing it all in one pot and automatically.
In addition to these new features, the TIM3 MACHIN3™ also has a special function for oatmeal and works as a digital slow cooker and as a programmable food steamer.
The secret to the TIM3 MACHIN3™’s success, according to 3 Squares, is its Fuzzy Logic 2.0™ system. This consists of an advanced digital brain, temperature sensors above and below the cooking pot, a new 900-watt heating system and a 20% thicker-than-industry-standard cooking pot.
“With the TIM3 MACHIN3™ there’s always homemade yogurt in my fridge and my kids eat steel cut oatmeal a few times a week. It’s really just an example of making a product that we knew we would love, and figuring ‘hey, other people would probably enjoy these features too,” Rogers added.
The TIM3 MACHIN3™ Kickstarter campaign launched on November 10th and will run through December 10th. The company has committed to delivering product to all initial backers before Christmas this year.
