This week, Dell and subsidiary gaming computer company Alienware began shipping 1-TB hard drives in select desktop PCs. The addition of terabyte technology is now available for the XPS, Aurora, and Area-51 desktops. A TB of storage on the Area-51 is available for $320 added on to the normal price.
“Digital content use is exploding in the consumer market with this 1TB hard drive, a lifetime of memories, music and other information can be made, stored and shared with others,” said Neil Hand, vice president, worldwide consumer marketing consumer product group, in a statement. “This type of capability used to be available only to the largest corporations. With the spectacular advancement in hard drives and the engineering in our systems, we’re now able to bring it to consumers.”
With a 1TB hard drive, you could even set up a makeshift time capsule of everything occurring in your life, including all of your possessions and where they are located. Which means no more last keys. — Andrew Dobrow
