PillCam shows your true insides

PillCam ESO 2 is a newly FDA approved endoscope in capsule form. Patients lay on their backs and swallow the rather large capsule cam. As the pill travels through the patients body, it takes shots of areas in the esophagus that might be suspected as being in need of medical treatment.

PillCam is about the same size as your normal multi-vitamin and has a camera on both sides, allowing it to get detailed looks at the inner lining of your esophagus. Sensors are placed on the patients chest, which cue the camera when to take a photo, and then process them for viewing. It’s also super speedy, flashing 14 images a second as it quickly slides down your tubing. — Andrew Dobrow
