At forty-nine bucks, AT&T’s new iPhone 3GS pricing is pretty hard to beat for better-than-bare-bones smartphoning. Unlike lots of Apple tech, this obsolescent gadget runs the latest software, too, in the form of iOS 4. With rumors of a CDMA iPhone to hit in early 2011, aficionados may prefer to wait. But it’s nice to know the heirloom variety can be had for a nice price. The new pricing takes effect tomorrow.

Great news BUT -> to get the lower price, people will have to sign a two-year service contract, which starts at roughly $70 a month.
So true, and a big pain, but so very de rigeur…
