Old Japanese Folk Bored With Robots

Ifbot

While my parents look at a computer as if it were powered by witchcraft, the elderly in Japan have become bored with robots. They prefer “everyday products adapted to their needs.” In the end, cute robots that were intended to help old folk maintain their cognitive abilities, monitor blood sugar and other vital functions have given way to the old fashioned stuffed animal.

The way I see it, it’s not that these old people are not open to technology – the problem is that the technology hasn’t gone far enough. When we have robots that will wipe our asses, cook our meals, and help us write letters to the editor, the elderly (and I) will be all over it. Sean Fallon
