Voyager 1 Confirmed As Being Out Of The Solar System

NASA’s Voyager 1 has officially become the first man made object to leave the solar system and fans of cosmic exploration are going nuts!

After 36 years and a 12 billion mile-long journey, NASA researchers agree that the Voyager 1 has finally left the solar system! For a long time it was questioned whether or not the Voyager had actually left the solar system, but finally researchers agree that the Voyager has made it and the official date of the breakthrough was August 12, 2012.

NASA’s associate administrator for science John Grunsfeld, made a statement to the occasion:

Voyager has boldly gone where no probe has gone before, marking one of the most significant technological achievements in the annals of the history of science, and adding a new chapter in human scientific dreams and endeavors. Perhaps some future deep space explorers will catch up with Voyager, our first interstellar envoy, and reflect on how this intrepid spacecraft helped enable their journey.

What’s next for Voyager 1? At a speed of 100,000 miles per hour Voyager 1 is headed to another star but it will take her some 40,000 years to get there!
