The Kindle HDX was announced by Amazon today and comes in a 7 and 8.9 inch model. Both of the new models are quite a bit thinner and lighter than the original Kindle Fire and have high-resolution screens. The HDX models also run an updated Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor at 2GHz. Both models also have adaptive screens that respond to ambient light by adjusting their brightness. Additionally, both of these tablets have a reading mode that will keep the tablet alive for 17 hours of uninterrupted reading. If you opt for the larger 8.9 inch model you will also get a 8-megapixel rear camera that allows for picture taking and use of a photo editing application.

Amazon Kindle fans are excited about these new additions to the Kindle lineup and Amazon is hopeful that the new changes to the Kindle will improve their fanbase.

The 7-inch model of the HDX will begin at $229 for the 16GB model and run to $329 for the LTE-enabled WWAN version. The Wi-Fi-only model will ship soon with a set date of October 15, but users looking for the LTE version will have to wait until  November 14 for shipping. That said however, [amazon link=”B00BWYQ9YE” title=”pre-orders on these units are currently available”], but remember, the sooner you order, the sooner your unit will ship!
