Meet the PD-100 Black Hornet, the tiniest reconnaissance drone helicopter you will ever see. This tiny drone weights just 16 grams and is remote controlled.
The PD-100 Black Hornet weighs 16 grams and is completely remote controlled, although don’t expect to get your hands on one of these puppies because they’re property of the British forces. This tiny drone was developed by Norwegian company Prox Dynamics AS and incredibly it can fly for twenty five minutes on a single charge. The Black Hornet can travel three quarters of a mile at its top speed and utilizes GPS to travel a predetermined route.
Besides being incredibly awesome because of it’s size, there is one downfall to the Black Hornet in addition to it’s short fly time – it can only operate during daylight hours because the drone is too small to fit any type of night vision technology. This tiny piece of stealth technology is said to be completely undetectable at distances above 30 feet.
Sounds like one pretty cool piece of tech right? Too bad you’ll never get your hands on one without becoming a member of the British Forces because the drone makers have said that they have no intention of making these available to the general public.
