Pokémon Go is the hottest new game on the market right now. It has been download over 75 million times and now generates over $3 million in in-app purchases daily. If you haven’t caught the Pokémon Go bug already, now is the best time to start. The game can be very addictive and soon you’ll start going on hunts for rare Pokémon around your neighborhood. While you do, use these tips to keep your phone safe and protected.
A Phone Case for More Grip
You will be holding your phone most of the time, so a good case that offers comfortable grip will help improve your gaming experience a lot. There are a lot of great cases out there, but here are a few things you may want to consider when choosing which one to buy:
- Phone wallets, preferably one made of leather, are the best kind. You can close the wallet and protect the screen while the game runs. When you want to walk around to find Pokémon or hatch your eggs, you can do so while the phone screen is covered to prevent accidental touches.
- You can also go for a more rugged case for better shock and drop protection.
- Don’t forget to consider the material of the case too. Some materials such as PVC plastic or ‘jelly’ can be very slippery and may reduce grip instead of adding it.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
There is a huge warning displayed at the beginning of the game: be aware of your surroundings. You will start walking with your eyes glued to the screen; that’s just how exciting the game can be. However, this isn’t something you should do at all.
There have been several reports of stolen phones because the owners are too busy playing Pokémon Go. Thieves can simply snatch the phone out of the owner’s hand and escape when the owner is too busy starting at the screen. Look up every now and then and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Add a Strap
If you really want to spend long hours playing Pokémon Go on your phone, adding a strap and attaching it to your wrist is also a good idea. Several players are beginning to do this to improve their gameplay. When you need to do something else, the phone can dangle on your wrist safely. It is also easy to avoid accidentally dropping the phone this way.
Not all phones have holes for mounting a strap. You may have to look for a case that has one in this case. Some of the more rugged cases, such as the Otterbox, usually have a hole through which you can loop a hand or wrist strap. The case may even come with a strap in the box.
Pokémon Go is an interesting game to play and it is very easy to get sucked into the game out of sheer excitement. Always remember to protect yourself and your phone whenever you’re out to hunt some Pokémon.
