A Water Based Touchscreen Technology?

Researchers at University of Electro-Communications’ Koike Laboratory have created an interactive display out of a pool of water and a Kinect. Want to see how?

The new display technology is being referred to as the AquaTop Display projection system and it utilizes  the XBox Kinect technology in collaboration with a three dimensional camera. This collaboration brings to life images that have the appearance of interacting with water.

While the technology is pretty amazing to watch and we could think of a good thousand people who would have fun playing with it, there are no plans to commercialize it – at least not yet.
