Rumors of an impeding announcement for a scaled down and cheaper model of the iPhone have been circulating through Chinese media the past week. Sources tell us that Apple plans to release a second iPhone by as early as September with prices ranging from $249-$299.
The root of this rumor seems to stem from a meeting between Apple and Wintek about possible instruction delivery and manufacturing, as well as talk about the new iPhone already being tested in small volumes. Quanta Computer is also rumored as a possible manufacturer. Isn’t it a little soon for an iPhone nano of should Apple strike while the iron is hot? — Andrew Dobrow
