If you’ve ever listened to music through small speakers, you’ll know that the sound it projects is weak, if not plain unbearable. Panasonic claims that they have created compact speakers that maintain the sound of high-fidelity bass, using a method called Nano Bass Exciter.
Porous carbon inside of the speaker casing creates an acoustic chamber that allows for creating a beautiful low-end sound. When a bass sound is produced, air gets caught in the speaker holes, causing a sudden change in pressure inside the speaker cabinet. So, in other words, our cellphones could one day be the new boom boxes. — Andrew Dobrow
