DIY: Replace your headphone jack

If you want a good pair of headphones, it’s gonna cost you. No matter how much you spend on them, headphone jacks have a tendency of splitting from the wire and loosening, creating dead noise. When this happens, most people will have a period where they cry under their blankets in the dark, cuddling with their old pair, before throwing them out and buying new ones. No need to spend time grieving. This DIY shows you how to replace the jack all by yourself. Like a big boy.

The cost is minimal and all you really need is a starter soldering kit and solder. Other than that, this could save you some real cash. — Andrew Dobrow

  1. Please retitle to “replace your headphone plug”. Jack is the female half of the connection.
