With the January 30th launch date of Vista rapidly approaching, computer companies are in cram mode making sure their new computers are all equipped with the newest Microsoft OS. With the relatively high performance needed from a computer running Vista, prices of new desktops may have a moment of high peak prices. DosPara offers an alternative.
For $400, DosPara offers a computer capable of running Vista. We don’t know how effectively it actually runs, since it will have the bare minimum of specs needed, but evidently, it does in fact run at least.
The specs of the DosPara are in fact a little under the average needed performance needs for Vista with a 2.53Ghz CeleronD CPU, 512MB of RAM, and a 80GB hard drive, but for $400, you can’t expect much more then that. For around $500-$550, you can get the advanced version which adds Office Personal 2007 and PowerPoint 2007.
Unless you are very bad off with money, it would probably be beneficial waiting for a more expensive, and more capable product. Or of course you could just go with a Mac. But for the price, it’s hard to beat unless you make it yourself. — Andrew Dobrow
