If you’re one of the few people who has never had the chance to rack up some cartoon-ish carnage in Team Fortress 2 — now’s your chance. Valve has just announced that Team Fortress 2 is now free to play, and will stay that way, “forever”.
This comes as no surprise if you’ve been following the experimental pricing plans used by the game. There are already several items and upgrades that can be purchased as micro transactions in-game. Also, Team Fortress 2 has been holding “free weekends” and other promotional events in the past.
If you play for free, you will have access to all of the game’s features. However, if you spend money on the game — by buying an item or another micro-transaction — you’ll automatically be upgraded to a “premium account”. This gives you more bag space, cooler drops and access to more in-game items.
