This year the ATM turns 40. With the sagging skin and aging effects of middle age, the ATM is definitely showing its age and in desperate need of a tune-up, both cosmetically and performance wise. The MAX BOX is a new face for the ATM, on a mission to revolutionize how we look at automatic transaction machines. The MAX BOX allows you to not only withdraw cash, but to order flowers, print photos, play games, buy ringtones, and more depending on the location. For instance, a MAX BOX located in a bar could be installed with a jukebox feature. Another example could be one installed in a dentists office that gives out Valium.
The MAX BOX terminal will feature two screens for double the usage, and sadly, double the advertising space. MAX BOX’s are currently being distributed through out the UK for testing, though don’t expect them to replace bank ATM’s. Being stuck in line behind someone listening to the complete Mozart symphony collection could be quite annoying. — Andrew Dobrow
