Hitachi has developed a wristwatch biometric monitor that collects vital information 24 hours a day for 10 consecutive days. Once collected, the device can transmit the data wirelessly to a personal computer. The PC can then be used to analyze data and determine how much the person has exercised, how long they have slept, and how far they have walked. Essentially this would be useful for doctors as a means of narcing on a patient’s daily activities. It may also be useful for nerdy hypochondriacs.
Hitachi is planning on developing a commercial version that will be available to the public starting in 2008. Sean Fallon
