Yesterday, Facebook users were greeted with an ominous warning that “new Facebook will soon be the only Facebook.” Unlike Vince, I think the new design is a hot mess and it seems like many people agree with me.
Even though Facebook presented it’s members with a trial of the atrocious redesign as the default option upon logging in, according to Mashable, 40% of people who were forcefed the new Facebook returned to the old version.
Sadly, the Facebook overlords don’t seem to care what we think. Even though the new Facebook layout is completely cluttered and lacks the minimalist appeal of the original version, Facebook announced on their developer blog yesterday that they expect the demise of the old-school design “to take place over the next week.” I guess we better enjoy the old Facebook while we still can.
