iFixYourI Blog put the iPhone 4’s glass exterior to the test and wouldn’t you know it? Glass tends to shatter when it falls from a few feet up. After the phone’s third fall, from approximately 3.5 feet, successfully shattered the newest rendition of the Jesus Phone.
It’s only fair to take into account that the particular device used for the test was only the iPhone 4 casing, without all of the hardware goodness inside. We imagine the hardware might add some sort of durability as a hollow glass shell doesn’t sound all that prepared for a full-out stress test. Regardless, this proves that while glass might be significantly less bendable, sudden impacts are no match for a dual sided glass exterior. I guess Apple made those “bumpers” for a reason.
