If you’ve ever walked the streets of Tokyo, Japan, you might have noticed something. There are an obscene — obscene — number of vending machines. You can buy everything from microwaved dinners, to fashion accessories, to “used” pairs of girls’ underwear (not kidding) from the vending machines in Japan.
Well, it looks like Japan’s multi-purpose vending machines are about to get a bit more up-close and personal. The machines will now start rewarding frequent users with their own avatars, weather updates, and even personalized birthday messages.
If you’re interested, the QR codes for this promotion (called “Quest for Happiness”) have already been affixed to 400,000 vending machines.
Oh, Japan.
