I love the design of this animated short, with its expressively-bearded Arctic anchorite and his steampunk igloo. But it’s also a delicious way to start the holiday season. A box? Under a tree? At the North Pole? Beware such giftsthis one is not what it seems. Tim Burton called animator Kevin Parry’s Arctic Circle “a cross between 2001 and Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” It doesn’t have sleighs or holly, but it works as a cautionary tale for the holidays nonetheless. You can bet I’ll be showing it to my kids.
