Have you been looking for a cheap way to create 3D printed materials? Well now SUNY Purchase College has released an affordable 3D printer called the Deltaprintr.
The Deltaprintr retails for $400 and is a compact laser cut printer with pieces that can be swapped out to allow for the creation of tall printed pieces. The Deltaprintr pumps out plastic at 100 microns and allows users to modify the printer to allow for printed objects that are bigger than the printing platform.
The Deltaprintr was created by a small group of SUNY Purchase College students, Shai Schechter, Andrey Kovalev, Yasick Nemenov and Eugene Sokolov. The device isn’t yet available, in fact it’s still in pre-beta stage and creators hope to launch a crowdfunding campaign in November. The creators of the printer are pricing it very competitively, something made possible through the use of affordable parts and they hope to keep it as an open source project.
