The phonograph might be more familiar looking for your Grandparents and Great-Grandparents, but designer Yong Jieyu looks pretty determined to show the phonograph a fine comeback.
By dissembling an old CD player and rearranging certain components, Jieyu tries to recreate the magic of listening to 1900’s broadcasts. The speakers are placed below the trumpet loudspeaker for amplification. The wooden box is made more spacious then the electrical PCB board needed to allow good bass resonance. The laser reader is shifted to the of the player allowing the spin of the CD to be clearly shown. — Andrew Dobrow
