Testing for drugs just got a lot easier (and more portable) for authorities.
Well, that’s if this new device created by a company called “Intelligent Fingerprinting” catches on. The company has developed a prototype of a drug-scanning device that only needs a person’s fingerprint to scan for illegal substances.
The prototype functions by actually testing the sweat from a person’s fingerprints, which is analyzed from components contained in disposable cartridges. Because there’s no blood sampling, this means that a specialist wouldn’t have to be present to handle bodily fluids, meaning that anyone could scan a person for drugs.
Right now, this prototype is scheduled to go into full production in 2012, since many organizations have already shown interest in it.
