Depositing checks can really be a nuisance if you think about it. Remember that $12 check your Grandma sent you for your birthday last year that you never got to depositing? Sure…it’s only $12, but I mean come on, it’s $12 you don’t have. The problem is laziness. Laziness to get your geeky ass in the car and drive 20 seconds to the nearest bank. Thanks to technology, even laziness can be efficient.
Customers of USAA banks can now deposit checks simply by scanning them and sending the copy through the USAA site. We would so sign up for this now only if the USAA wasn’t limited to members of the armed forces and their families. USAA also offers more cool added features, all for the added price of free.
We feel so meager. Our banks just don’t compare! But hey, you gotta look at it like this. If this service is successful through the USAA, a lot more companies are going to jump on the band wagon. Both for paying bills and depositing money. Looks like a cool little feature. — Andrew Dobrow
