Retro Rewind: The 1924 electric car

If you’re reading this, odds are that you weren’t alive to see how early of a jump people got on creating environmentally friendly cars. The pictured article was published in the April 1924 issue of Popular Mechanics. While the motive behind the article was most likely for sales reasons and a certain “cool” factor and not for the post-discovered global warming, the idea of electrical automobiles being thought of in the 1920’s shows a growing concern for the future of oil and fuel.

We’re glad we don’t live in the time where the electric car could only bring you 5 miles before it needed a recharge. With how heavy the thing must of been using all of the metal that they suggest, it’s a surprise the thing could move at all under its own weight.

Catch the jump for another pic.
