Tomotaka Takahashi realized a crucial fact about robotics that most have not caught onto. The lack of female bots. The result of his thinking evolved into FT, or Female Type, the girl robot.
To nail down that feminine strut, Takahashi consulted with professional models on how to give FT a feminine flare. Her body contains 23 motors and 2 gyroscopes, which she’ll have to get checked out biannually by a gynecologist. Only two FT’s were built, one in which is up for sale via auction, though watch out. The bidding starts at a hefty $300,000. — Andrew Dobrow
