Sooooo…one of the newest headlines in the tech world is that the NSA is looking to get their hands on a quantum computer that is capable of cracking tough encryption…
If you’re a conspiracy theorist or…let’s face it, a regular any man at this point, then you are already familiar with the “rumor” that the NSA is quite in tune with just about anything and everything that goes on. Well, their knowledge is sure to get much more complete is they get their hands on a quantum computer capable of tough encryption. What does this mean? Well it means that the NSA is looking to get their hands on a computer that is capable of cracking even the toughest encryption because – believe it or not – there are encryption methods that the NSA cannot yet crack. Is this a bad thing? Well, really it depends on your stance but the availability of a computer like this would mean that the NSA could decode encrypted information that threatens national security.
How long before this encryption cracking quantum computer becomes a reality? The truth is that there is no news as far as how long it will be until this computer becomes a reality, nor is there any information as far as how far along in the research of this type of system the NSA actually is. Still it’s a good reminder that there really is no security in security methods after all.
