When it comes to passwords, it’s no secret that some of us can be incredibly lazy. Instead of a hard-to-guess string of numbers, capital letters and special characters, many of us just stick to using basic word strings. Think your password is bad? SplashData has compiled a list of the 25 worst passwords of 2011.
Of course, there are a few no-brainers. Actually, the number one worst password is literally “password”. Coming in at a close second is 123456. Other notable terrible passwords include “iloveyou”, “monkey”, “ashley”, “shadow” and “letmein”. Here are the first few on the list:
1. password
2. 123456
3. 12345678
4. qwerty
5. abc123
6. monkey
7. 1234567
8. letmein
9. trustno1
10. dragon
Personally, I think that anyone who legitimately has “password” protecting their personal data shouldn’t be surprised when they get hacked.
