C-3PO might be the world’s most emotional (but fictional) robot ever, but Reddy the “real” emotional robot can contort its face to display a pretty broad range of emotions. Creater’s RoboMotio are taking Reddy with a grain of salt, holding off on giving the emoto-robo any legs, just in case it gets too emotional and happens to run off.
Reddy’s contorted face is possible with the help of nine hard working servos, all operating a aspect of the robots emotional personality. Reddy is also capable of eventually carrying out a complex and intensive emotional interaction. Of course, more testing and regulation is necessary. — Andrew Dobrow
