Your credit card of the future

Some people still prefer carrying cash around. We have sort of phased paper money out of our lives, keeping a spare $20 around in case of emergencies. The one dangerous thing about only using a bank card is that you can lose track of your spending really quick. A futuristic design concept might change how we budget ourselves.

Using RFID technology, Designer Jacob Palmborg has conceived of this futuristic card that would have real time data for all of your existing accounts. A screen interface would display your current available balance as well as recent purchases and receipts. Biometric security features make sure that only you can access the information. Something like this also produces the possibility to have one all-encompassing card that could hold your drivers license and passport.

  1. Hola desde Argentina!. Interesting.

  2. Very Interesting… I Asqed Me if that is new?, jajaja I Dont Think So. Hackers Russian Already Working In Mechanisms For To Do Vulnearable It, So, Good Attempt ;). Saludos Mendigos Americanos. RTMember.

  3. This uses RFID technology, which can be hacked. No good, try again please.

  4. I agree with Bonzai. RFID, by its nature, is unsuitable for any high security application, such as banking. RFID tags are so simple, that they spit out all their info when prompted by any reader at the right frequency, I don’t know of any way this can be avoided, since the hardware of a tag must be able to be powered on the radio transmission alone, anything that is too complex, or that takes too long to respond would run out of juice. RFID is great for letting college kids into their dorms, but not for keeping my money safe.

  5. how about the “hackers” that want your money go get a job and stop messing with other peoples’ stuff? how about we try and live like civilized beings and not screw each other over? RFID technology is perfectly fine, if the world existed in such a way that it actually had people within it that didn’t screw each other for money. Money makes the world go around, yet we existed for almost 4,000 years without any currency, we just exchanged items (ie. a goat for a pig) come on people.

  6. wow – thats pretty cool.

  7. @zeroes- well you can say that all you want, but reality is that people WILL try to steal your money. they do it now, they’ve done it before, and they’ll do it later, no matter what kinds of credit cards we have. The world is not perfect, and probably will never be.

  8. For a concept it sure is an interesting idea.

  9. Great idea! With this system, only the government, banks and corporations will be able to rob you. Hey, why bother with a big, clumsy screen? Why not just shrink it down into a single chip and implant it under your skin? Sure, that’s what the conspiracy nuts have been saying all along but they’re crazy. Plus, it will be easy!

  10. I don’t want to give up paper money. Using credit/debit/futuristic bank cards will leave a trail that governments can trace. The privacy of paper money will disappear.

  11. This is a nice concept… Paper money should be on its way out already. But it’s not catching up in my country. Most of the shops don’t accept card here.. Hope it changes for better soon to make path for these new cards.

  12. Paper money still has several advantages. For example:
    – No one knows where or what you buy except you and the person you trade with
    – You are in control of the money in your pocket or your safe at home: No one can just lock your account and prevent you from buying things

  13. zeroes that was the stupidest thing evar 4000 years? try atleast 200 000

  14. Its a great concept and working further on it will help in reducing the wallet size , one can carry only this with all the cards build in … for security sake it have multifactor authentication , helps in your money to be yours only… thirdly anything can be hacked its we human who build it so we only knows how to crack it.. just chill

hope to see this product in market soon , costing can be a concern for manufacturers , this product will not be cheep .. atleast in near future .

  15. Oops..can’t get a signal…guess I’m broke.
